Patrick McGoohan, creator of The Prisoner passed away this week. The Prisoner inspired such other TV shows as Lost, Battlestar Galactica, and even The Simpsons (see here). A reimagined The Prisoner is in the works.
McGoohan is also to be remembered for Secret Agent, a very good TV spy series done on a low budget.
